Best Practice

'Nuturing Health' is a tool to enable Best Practice.

Positive health messages in early years settings are crucial in shaping children's behaviours, not only in childhood but throughout their lives. Children who eat well, play well and are physically active typically have greater self-esteem, show improved concentration, behave better, and have an overall better quality of life.

Hundreds of under 5’s have already benefited from the materials and resources that have been used to form the basis of the Nurturing Health modules. By using the opportunity to apply the Nurturing Health learning and self certified accreditation, you will be able to demonstrate to families, children and the community that you serve that you aim to nurture every child in your care and their health and wellbeing is of great importance.

The information, advice and guidance within the modules compliments the Early Years Foundation Stage, and can support the development of your planning activities.

It can also be used as evidence towards Ofsted inspections. The modules can be used as a training resource to help you and your staff to learn something new or simply to refresh memories contributing towards continuing personal and professional development opportunities.

It allows you to invest in developing your staff, without having to pay for the cost of travel or supply cover. Joining makes sense. Nurturing Health is a convenient way to learn, at your own pace.  Stephanie Robinson, Nursery Manager at Honey Buns, Stafford who helped to shape the resource says "My staff all have different levels of experience and expertise. Our nursery is so busy, but the evidence sheets are a great display tool to show families what we've been up to, and how much we all care about their childs development, health and wellbeing."
